About Brian Duncan
I’m Brian Duncan, originally from Cleveland, Ohio. My journey has taken me across diverse experiences, beginning with my decision to join the Marine Corps after graduating from high school in 1993. Serving as a Stinger Missile Gunner, I had the incredible opportunity to travel extensively, visiting countries such as Spain, Italy, Greece, France, Israel, Albania, and Georgia.
After an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps in December 1997, I shifted my focus to education and relocated to Charlotte in June 1999 to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree. In 2005, I proudly graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Embarking on my nursing career, I initially worked in the Emergency Department in Winston-Salem and later transitioned to the Emergency Department in Charlotte. My experiences as an Emergency Department and Trauma ICU nurse spanned several years until 2009 when I decided to further my education. I returned to school at East Carolina University for my Masters in Nursing, completing my degree in 2012 and stepping into the role of a Nurse Practitioner.
Throughout my career, I have primarily focused on hospital medicine, specializing in managing chronic conditions. However, my passion for healthcare evolved as I pondered how to shift our focus from managing chronic issues to preventing their development. This curiosity has become a driving force in my professional journey to start Vigor Health and Wellness.
Beyond the confines of the clinic, I find joy in a variety of outdoor pursuits. Whether I’m hunting, cycling, running, engaging in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), or embarking on hiking and camping adventures, the great outdoors is where I recharge. Additionally, nothing brings me more happiness than spending quality time with my wife and our four wonderful children.
I look forward to exploring innovative ways to contribute to preventative healthcare and make a positive impact on the well-being of all individuals
